About Tim Worst
Tim has a bachelor’s degree in physical education, from Newberry College, Tim taught Health and PE at Chesapeake Bay Academy in Virginia Beach. Then a Resident Hall Coordinator and Girls Basketball Coach at SC Governors School for Science and Mathematics. Tim worked in the Sports Photography field at Proud Moments in Sports in Virginia Beach and then spent almost 20 years in Auto Insurance with GEICO and USAA. His wife Cathy is a registered nurse.
Residents, first responders, and schools seem to be at the bottom of this list when it comes to what’s important. Neighbors fear being underwater again, our first responders need to function in any type of weather, and our schools fear their budget will be cut. Tim will put these things before any special interest. The priority will be the people first, not tourist, not a pier, not an arena, and NOT light rail.
Tim is not going to back down. When faced with tough decisions Tim will see our city lives within its means and works for realistic budgets. Putting principles over politics is job number one. Leading the charge for the people and ensuring they are heard at City Council. Tim wants the needs of the residents to be priority number one and not the special interest.
Tim has been very active in the community over the years. Volunteering for a multitude of organizations, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Special Olympics, Relay for Life, Santa @ the Surf & Santa Race, St. Baldricks Foundation and coached softball and basketball for Recreation leagues, Little League, and Travel Softball.
Tim, Cathy, and the kids are active members of St Michael Lutheran Church on Princess Anne Rd and LOVE their church family. Tim will tell anyone who will listen, without his introduction from Young Life to who Jesus Christ is and what he did/does for us…… Tim wonders where he’d be today.
Life-long Resident of Virginia Beach
Tim grew up in Arrowhead and went to Kempsville schools. Tim graduated from Kempsville in 1986. He has two older brothers (Tom & Chris) and an older sister (Julie). With one younger brother (Jim).
Tim’s Dad (Dale) was stationed in Norfolk while in the Navy and Tim never had to move as a child growing up. That’s not the norm. Dale retired as a Commander in the U.S. Navy. Tim’s Mother (Peggy) was a stay at home Mom and she was pretty much a taxi cab driver for Tim, his brothers and his sister going from practice to games and everywhere else. This family understood the military life with a father on deployment. Tim’s parents lived in the same home for 38 years.
When it was time to settle down Tim and his wife of 23 years, Cathy, chose Virginia Beach. They raised their two girls Shelby and Megan here and they attended public schools. Shelby is a graduate of Salem High School (Music Academy) and she attends the University of South Carolina. Megan is a sophomore at Kellam High School.
